Statistics basics and SAS software applications
Aims
The course covers descriptive and inferential statistics concepts using the tools that SAS provides for the user for implementing them on concrete examples.

Prerequisites
Basic experience in the use of the SAS language is required and at least a basic knowledge of statistics.

Descriptive statistics
- Population and sample
- Data organisation: observations and variables
- Variable measurement levels
- Qualitative and quantitative variable distribution
- Qualitative and quantitative variable summary measurements: central and non-central trend, dispersion, distribution form, concentration.
- Bivariate Statistics: representation, connection, correlation
- Sampling (brief overview)
Inferential Statistics
- Averages confidence intervals

- Dependent and independent sample tests
- One way and multi-way variance analysis
